ACT Wazalendo is a new political party in Tanzania having been formed in 2014 and registered by the registrar of political parties as a political party.
The party came at a time when the existing parties, both in government and opposition, had showed their disinterest to push for essential reforms that would improve the livelihoods of Tanzanians.
In 2010 the country recorded a low voters’ turnout when only 42% turned out in comparison to 72% in 2005 and 84% in 2000 partly due to apathy that existing parties would not bring any new change and therefore voting for them again would be meaningless.
So ACT Wazalendo is the new party promising to carry the change-agenda, bring in a new leadership that will act on their issues and fight for the change that they have been yearning for so long.
A successful launch of the party in Dar es Salaam in March 2015 and attended by more than 3000 people from all over Tanzania and broadcast live by various local media.
