  • ACT Wazalendo is still a new political party in Tanzania having been formed in 2014 and registered by the registrar of political parties as a political party.
  • The party came at a time when the existing parties, both in government and opposition, had shown their disinterest to push for essential reforms that would improve the livelihoods of Tanzanians.
  • In 2010 the country recorded a low voter turnout, only 42% turned out in comparison to 72% in 2005 and 84% in 2000, partly due to apathy from the thought that existing parties would not bring any new change and therefore voting for them again would be pointless.
  • So ACT Wazalendo was the new party promising to carry the change-agenda, bring in a new leadership to act on their issues and fight for the change they have been yearning for, for so long.

  • A successful launch in Dar es Salaam in March 2015, attended by more than 3000 people from all over Tanzania and broadcast live by various local media.
  • A compelling brand that stands out from the rest and conforms to the vision of the party’s fellowship.
  • An assortment of positioning tools and media strategies to push the party’s popularity and grow its membership within the country and diaspora while attracting friends and allies within and abroad to commit their support.
  • It emerged 2nd with the most parliamentary contestants in the 2015 general elections.
  • It had the best campaign manifesto, for the 2015 elections, in terms of its messages and resonance with the Tanzanian population.
  • It is the first ever party in Tanzania to have a woman in its top administrative position and as presidential candidate.
