SENIOR CAMPAIGN OFFICER
He worked closely with the Paulo Gomes campaign team in Guinea Bissau managing international media relations for the presidential candidate during the country’s presidential campaigns and elections. He also worked closely with 5 research institutions supporting them to position their research findings by helping them to develop and implement communication strategies and tools for political influencing. He has also been heavily involved in key training projects and directed the Niyel’s Human Rights Advocacy Boot Camp in Dakar –Senegal for the Institute for Security Studies. Before joining Niyel, he worked for Action-Aid as an Assistant Campaigner and at
Le Soleil Newspaper as a Reporter on Society and Politics. He holds a Higher Studies Diploma in Journalism and Communication, Desj/C, from ISSIC in Senegal. Salam is from Senegal and speaks French, Wolof and English.
Antoine A. Diatta
Antoine A. Diatta is a Senior Creative at Niyel and is very passionate about mixing colours, creating visually compelling graphics and editing images. He has been key in the development of strong and compelling campaign brands for many campaigns that Niyel has been part of including ACT Wazalendo, the Paulo Gomes campaign, Play for the Union, Fawe, Trust Africa, Les Koudous du Faso, and Oxfam’s ECOWAP project. Before joining Niyel, he worked for Flash Express, an agency that specializes in graphic designs and doing layouts for large surfaces. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Design from Sun Hi-Tech 3 Africa. Antoine is from Senegal and speaks French, Wolof and English.
Lydia C. Hickman
Lydia C. Hickman is a recent addition to the Niyel team where she serves as advocacy officer, working on the creation of advocacy and communication strategies. She has experience across four continents and has worked in the African countries of the Republic of Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Senegal and Uganda. Prior to working with Niyel, Lydia worked as the coordinator of a regional educational program for university students focusing on the continent’s greatest development challenges, including peace and security, statelessness, human rights and social injustice, among others.
SENIOR ADVOCACY OFFICER
Deograttius is a specialist in capacity building and support to civil society organizations (CSOs). He is currently leading a study in 5 West African states to help IBP understand how CSOs in the region undertake budget analysis and advocacy. In 2016, he helped NPA –Rwanda develop a national advocacy strategy and advocacy plans for the 15 CSOs involved in the PPIMA project. He also supported Trust Africa in Ghana in the establishment of a pan African advocacy network for smallholder farmers and the development of an advocacy strategy for better agricultural policies within their states and regionally. In 2015, Deo was involved in the structuring of a new political party called ACT-Wazalendo in Tanzania, its launch and supported implementation of its campaign strategy during the 2015 general elections. Before Niyel, Deo worked in Kenya as a Behavior Change Communication Officer at Impact Research & Development Organization (IRDO) and as an IEC Coordinator at WIFIP Education and Development. He holds a Bachelors degree in Communication and Media Technology from Maseno University and is pursuing a Masters degree in Project Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi. He is from Kenya and speaks English, Swahili, Luo and French.
SENIOR ADVOCACY OFFICER
Laetitia is a Senior Advocacy Officer at Niyel. She is mainly responsible for the planning and delivery of advocacy and public affairs projects and leads communications and advocacy campaigns for a range of issues. She works with NGOs, civil society organizations, think tanks, development institutions and foundations. Her work focuses mainly on how to provide a clear, relevant and concise roadmap for organizations leading to an optimal achievement of their objectives.
This is translated by the strategies she develops, research, trainings on advocacy, assistance in the implementation of activities and support to organizations.
Each of these, plus her extensive experience in the region, allows her to have a thorough understanding of the civil society sector and the social environment. She has worked across the region on education, sanitation, health, agriculture, politics and culture. Her experience in this wide range of issues has provided her with a thorough familiarity of the impact of a project and how to work with donors, beneficiaries, CSOs, governments and grassroots communities.
Recently, Laetitia worked on a ten-month study on Transparency, Participation and Accountability carried out by Niyel in partnership with the Hewlett Foundation. She also coordinated a project on building resilience to floods in Senegal; a project implemented by a consortium of 8 partners. She is currently leading a 5-year project on immunization in Africa, a project funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation.
Laetitia holds a Masters degree in Business Administration, Marketing and Customer Relationship Management from the Institut Supérieur de Management, Dakar-Senegal.
She is from Burkina Faso and speaks French, English, Bambara and Moore.
Mamadou Ba is the Security Oficer at Niyel. He works closely with the admin staff, especially the Logistics Officer and the Finance Manager by advising on security measures needed to strengthen the security of both the office’s resources and the staff. He often comes to work in the evenings and during the weekend when the other staff are away. He is from Senegal and speaks French and Wolof.
SENIOR ADVOCACY OFFICER
Nafi Traore is currently heading Niyel-Kigali and supporting NPA Rwanda in developing an advocacy strategy for PPIMA Project. She has also facilitated policy-influencing training sessions for, Oxfam on Aid effectiveness, the African Population & Health Center, APHC, in Nairobi -Kenya and the African Center for Peace and Security Training, ACPST, in Addis –Ethiopia and Dakar -Senegal. She participated in the development and delivery of popular mobilization campaign messages for the Play for the Union campaign and was responsible for organizing and convening Campaign Corner sessions while still in Dakar. Nafi holds a Masters degree in International Law and Politics (ILAP) and a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand. She is from Senegal and speaks French, English and Wolof.
Habib Diouf is the Office Driver at Niyel. He is in-charge of staff transportation especially to meet clients and at times collects visitors coming to the office from the airport or other locations that are close. He got involved in the Give Against Ebola campaign by agreeing to have his portrait used in the campaigns’ online materials to mobilize Africans to support the fight against Ebola. Before joining Niyel, he worked as a Taxi driver. He is from Senegal and speaks French and Wolof.
LOGISTIC AND ADMINISTRATION MANAGER
Fatou Sarr is the Logistics and Administration Manager at Niyel and works closely with the Finance Manager and the Executive Director. She assists the campaign staff in preparing all logistics for their activities and tasks and manages the support staff and other office resources. She also manages the front desk and receives all clients and guests coming to the office. She has been with Niyel since its establishment in 2008. In that time, she has served in various administrative positions including Executive Assistant, Administration Officer, Accounts and Logistics Officer all which have given her immense experience and fermented her mastery of Niyel’s archives and core business. Before joining Niyel, she worked as an Assistant to the Director at CEM Diene Coumba Ndiaye and at the La Préfecture de Foudiougne. She holds a Bachelors degree in Secretarial Services from Suptech Dakar. Fatou is from Senegal. She speaks French, Wolof, Serere and English.
Cecile Mendy is the Office Assistant at Niyel and supports the admin office with purchases of resources for the office and staff. She also helps with organizing and maintaining cleanliness of the office. She is from Senegal and speaks French and Wolof.
CREATIVE ASSISTANT AND WEBMASTER
Abdourahmane Seck is an intern at Niyel. And is in the final year of training in multimedia / digital communication at Sup Info - Group, Dakar. Besides graphic design and audiovisual, he has skills in designing and developing websites. Most recently he took lead in the revision of Niyel’s website. He also played a key role in the development of an online presentation for a concept being developed under a partnership between Niyel and APHRC. He is from Senegal and speaks French and Wolof.

HUMAN RESOURCE ASSISTANT
Mr. Jules Charles COLY has been the HR Assistant at Niyel since February 2017. He works closely with the Operations team. His role is to assist administration regarding all HR related tasks. Before joining Niyel he worked as a commercial vendor advisor. He holds a two year degree from the English Department of the University Cheick Anita Diop (UCAD). He speaks French, English, Diola and Wolof.
