Valerie is the Executive Director of Niyel. She founded Niyel after a successful career in some of the dopest campaigns organizations in the world such as Oxfam, ActionAid and Amnesty International.
Challenging the tried and tested, refuting the status quo, exploring foggy areas of thinking and work is what she does best, with only one quest in mind: what will lead to impact? Valerie has degrees in communication, international relation and political strategies .
His training in journalism, experience within the Senegalese press arena and his interpersonal skills make Salam a highly sought out reference for all things media and PR. Salam has extensive field experience spanning Burkina Faso, Gabon, Burundi and Kenya and was the coordinator of the first launch of the Koudou du Faso Campaign in Burkina. Preparations underway for the 2nd edition of this popular mobilization activity demonstrate the success of the launch. He has led and contributed to the development of several campaign strategies with a particular focus in the areas of diagnostics, situational analysis and high-impact tactics that deliver results. Salam holds a Diploma in Journalism and Communication (Desj / C) from ISSIC Senegal and has been with Niyel from its conception.
Fatou is intrinsically involved in all campaigns Niyel develops and implements thanks to the crucial logistic and administrative support she brings to the team. She has played an important role in building the Niyel archive and her adaptability, openness, availability and motivation create and maintain good team spirit as well as great client relationships. Fatou is a graduate in Executive Assistance and Design.
Because Narcisse likes to focus on details, he is a naturally meticulous planner effective in campaign coordination and implementation. He has a keen interest in experience sharing and has been the main trainer of over 700 volunteers during the popular mobilization events for the RTI Literature Campaign and the Play for the Union’s petition signing in Malawi. Narcisse has been part of the development of several advocacy strategies and training manuals and has been with Niyel for the past 3 years. He has a background in Social Sciences, Marketing and Strategy and is certified in Social Marketing in ‘Grandes causes Humanitaires’.
Antoine is a graphic designer with Niyel and brings with him loads of creative talent and inspiration. He has been one of the main designers responsible for creating communication materials for Play for the Union, Koudou du Faso, Oxfam Mining Stories and Les Heroines du Quotidian among others. Antoine holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Design from Sun Hi-Tech 3 Africa.
Bamba has around ten years’ experience in the field of finance. At Niyel, he is in charge of administrative, financial and personnel management. He plays an important role in the elaboration and implementation of the agency financial policies. He works to ensure that the ethics and management of Niyel are respected. Bamba holds a Masters in Business Management, Auditing and Financial Engineering.
Nafi is a vivacious campaigner who specializes in policy research and analysis relating to questions of development in Africa. She facilitates the understanding of policies, which are instrumental to the design of campaign strategies. Nafi was first involved with Niyel as a volunteer contributing to the Family Planning Policy project organized by the International Planned Parenthood Federation- IPPF. She was later at the heart of the ‘Play for the Union’ campaign’s message development process. Nafi has a Graduate degree in Political Science & Philosophy and a Masters Degree in International Law & Politics. She regularly produces policy briefs on specific development issues of utmost relevance to the African continent.
Very methodical, organized and conscientious, Laetitia is a campaigner in Niyel’s Strategy and Policy Influencing Department. She started working with the agency while being involved in the organization of the “Koudou du Faso”- a popular mobilization event marking the launch of Oxfam’s Global campaign “Grow” in Burkina Faso. Moreover, she contributed to the conception and implementation of On-Umami’s online media strategy. She is currently managing this online platform. Today, as a campaigner on Strategy and Policy Influencing department she puts forward her competencies in Social Media Strategy Development. Having graduated from Dakar’s “International School of Management” (ISM) with an MBA in Marketing and Customer Relationship Management, Laetitia considers Niyel as a perfect fit for her
At Niyel, Deo works in the Communication Department and takes lead in Communication projects and Popular Mobilization campaigns. He has experience in Development Communication, specifically, Evidence-Based Programs, Behaviour Change Communication, Human Rights and Community focused interventions having worked in the Civil Society. He has also been involved in short-term consultancy services for Omega Foundation, CARE, World Vision-Kenya, Plan International, Tuungane Youth Centre among others both in Systems Development and Trainings. Deo has a BA. Communication and Media Technology from Maseno University and is currently pursuing a M.A Project Planning and Management at the University of Nairobi.
At Niyel, Khaly works in the Administration Department as the Human Resources Assistant. In this role, he assists the Administrative Manager in implementing Niyel’s HR policy and staff welfare. He also has additional responsibilities in mobilizing bloggers and moderating blogging content for the www.on-umami.com platform. He has Data Collection skills having participated as a Research Assistant in field surveys worked for a number of NGO’s including SEM FUND and USAID. Khaly is a graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in English from Cheikh Anta Diop University and a M.A in Human Resources Management from Sup Deco Business School .
